The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a government initiative designed to accelerate the transition from fossil fuel heating systems to low‑carbon alternatives. It provides upfront grants to homeowners installing heat pumps in England and Wales, making renewable heating more accessible and affordable.

What Does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme Offer?
The BUS currently provides a £7,500 voucher towards the cost and installation of an Air Source Heat Pump. This grant is applied directly to your installation cost. The scheme is installer‑led, meaning we handle the entire application process for you. You simply pay the full cost upfront, and once the installation is complete and certified, the voucher is redeemed and applied to your final cost. This makes the process smooth, stress‑free, and transparent.
Eligibility Criteria
We work closely with you to ensure your property meets all the requirements before proceeding. Here’s what you need to qualify:
Grant Requirements
✔ You own the property
✔ You are replacing an existing fossil fuel system (oil, gas, LPG, or direct electric)
✔ The new heat pump must be MCS‑approved with a minimum COP of 2.8*
✔ Your property must have a valid EPC ✔ No outstanding loft or cavity wall insulation recommendations
✔ Installation must be completed by an MCS‑accredited installer
✔ Heat pump capacity must be ≤ 45kW (suitable for most homes)
✔ System must meet your full space heating and hot water needs
Ineligible Properties
✖ Homes that have previously received RHI or ECO funding
✖ Social housing
✖ New builds (except eligible self‑builds)

Process Overview
We will work with you to check your eligibility for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, and then design a solution, that will supply your property with both heat and hot water. Once this is complete, we will be able to proceed with the voucher application process which is as follows.
Stage 1
We submit your voucher application to Ofgem. They review the details and contact you to confirm your consent.
Stage 2
Once approved, your voucher is issued with a 3‑month validity period for Air Source Heat Pump installations.
Stage 3
After your heat pump is installed and commissioned, we submit the redemption application within the voucher’s validity period.
Stage 4
Ofgem pays the £7,500 grant directly to us, and your brand‑new renewable heating system is complete.
